In 2024, Cyréna Samba-Mayela did France proud by winning the silver medal in the 100m hurdles at the Paris Olympic Games. She thus became the only French athlete to win a medal at these Games, which were held on home soil.
But the athlete may not repeat this feat at the next Olympics. Her participation in the 2028 Los Angeles Games remains uncertain. The reason is a sanction hanging over the 25-year-old.
The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has announced the provisional suspension of the Olympic silver medalist. She is accused of three breaches of her whereabouts obligations.
The reason is three whereabouts failures recorded over a period of twelve months, which allegedly prevented her from submitting to unannounced doping tests.
Such a sanction can last up to two years and would therefore deprive her of the next Los Angeles Olympics, from July 14 to 30, 2028.
His entourage clarifies the nature of the case, emphasizing that it is not a doping case linked to a prohibited substance, but an administrative oversight.
