Nigeria: 52 people still held captive after armed attack in Zamfara

Separated from their husbands for some, from their mothers for others, about fifty people spent their first night away from their environment, in the hands of their kidnappers.

In the night between Sunday and Monday last week, armed men stormed into Zamfara State in northwestern Nigeria. They attacked the local population before abducting dozens of residents.

The attack occurred around 1 a.m. "Initially, they abducted more than 100 people before releasing some and ultimately holding 52," a local source told the foreign press.

Before the assault on the village of Kasuwar Daji, these terrorist groups first attacked a military base located on the outskirts of the town. The assailants seized rifles and set fire to a military patrol vehicle.

It should be remembered that gangs of "bandits" operate in vast rural areas of North Ouedt and Central Nigeria, where the state presence is weak.
