In Fada N'Gourma, the countdown has begun. The drinking water supply system must be reinforced and put into service no later than April 15, 2027. The Minister of State, Minister of Agriculture, Water, Animal and Fisheries Resources, Commander Ismaël Sombié, refuses to consider any further delays.

During a visit to the Goulmou region, the minister launched the works aimed at strengthening the city's water supply on September 14th. Faced with persistent difficulties, he primarily asked the company in charge of the project to accelerate the pace.

“Ten months is too long,” he declared. For him, access to drinking water cannot wait. He even announced that he would personally return on April 15th to verify the system's commissioning.

On the ground, the work will take place on several levels. Three new pumps, each with a capacity of at least 160 m³ per hour, will be installed to increase pumping capacity from the dam. The treatment plant will also be rehabilitated, including the refurbishment of the old settling tank and the construction of a new module.

The project also includes a new 200 m³ storage tank and the laying of 6,2 kilometers of pipeline to the main water tower.

The aim of this project is to sustainably improve the water supply to Fada N'Gourma. However, before that can happen, the company must meet the new deadline set by the minister. April 15, 2027, is now the deadline.
