Burkina Faso schools: a new school year marked by reforms and commitment

The Burkinabe education system is starting a new year with many projects on the horizon. For the 2026-2027 academic year, the Minister of Basic Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages, Jacques Sosthène Dingara, has placed teachers and all educational staff at the heart of this dynamic.

At the start of this new year, the minister announced a period marked by challenges, but also by the continuation of reforms aimed at transforming the school, improving its efficiency and better adapting it to the aspirations of the country.

This transformation, however, does not rely solely on decisions made at the ministerial level. It largely depends on their implementation in schools and on the ground. Teachers, educational supervisors, administrative staff, and those in charge of educational institutions are therefore called upon to fully play their part.

Jacques Sosthène Dingara commended their courage and resilience in the face of the difficulties encountered in carrying out their missions. He also reiterated his encouragement, urging them to approach the new year with determination and a sense of responsibility.

The minister wants to see the school year marked by hard work, discipline, innovation, and results. This focus echoes the Day of Academic Excellence celebrated the previous day, which highlighted merit and a taste for effort.

For the department in charge of education, the challenge now is to transform this commitment into concrete results in classrooms and in the functioning of the education system.

“Your commitment is crucial. Your dedication makes the difference. Your sense of duty is our strength,” Jacques Sosthène Dingara told education stakeholders, before reminding them that Burkinabe schools and Burkina Faso are counting on them.
