The National Coordination for the Fight Against Fraud (CNLF) is intensifying its offensive against fraud networks in Burkina Faso. Between July 20 and August 5, 2026, its teams seized goods with a total value of 141,38 million FCFA, ranging from diverted subsidized fuel to smuggled medical supplies, as well as prohibited products.
The operation resulted in the recovery of medical kits, syringes, suture threads, ointments and 76 cartons of anabolic steroids, with an estimated value of over 68 million FCFA.
Several shipments of diesel fuel illegally destined for industrial companies were also intercepted in Ouagadougou, Kouba, and Koubri. According to the institution, these practices have caused several million CFA francs in losses to the public treasury.
The officers also seized alcoholic energy drinks and shisha, which are prohibited from being sold in Burkina Faso, as well as prohibited plastic bags being transported illegally.
Another major operation: the seizure, in the Zabré area, of a semi-trailer truck loaded with smuggled goods, including sugar, rice, cooking oil, flour, alcoholic beverages, tomatoes, bouillon cubes, and spaghetti. The value of this shipment is estimated at over 34 million FCFA.
According to the national coordinator, Mohamadi Compaoré, these operations reflect the CNLF's determination to protect consumers, safeguard state revenue, and combat networks that undermine the Burkinabe economy. He reiterated that subsidized fuel is intended exclusively for households and must under no circumstances be used by businesses.
