Iran, which mourned the deaths of 11 people, including at least 4 civilians killed at a wedding, did not simply stand by. The Islamic Republic retaliated with indiscriminate attacks on Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates.

Last night, the Revolutionary Guards "promised to break the foundations of the enemy" by adopting a new strategy without further details.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, for his part, reaffirmed Beijing's support for Middle Eastern countries to ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

From Cairo, where he is making a visit marking his return to Egypt after a ten-year absence, the Chinese leader also warned that China would not accept any foreign intervention in the Middle East.
