Russia-Iran: Putin and Pezeshkian demonstrate their close relationship in the face of American pressure

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Massoud Pezeshkian expressed their desire to strengthen their partnership. The two leaders met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Kyrgyzstan.

The discussions focused primarily on economic, trade, energy and humanitarian cooperation between Moscow and Tehran, but also on the geopolitical situation and tensions with Washington.

The Kremlin leader reaffirmed Russia's support for the Iranian people, praising their "courage" and "determination" in defending their national interests. Moscow maintains that it will continue its support for Tehran, particularly through the provision of essential goods and supplies.

For his part, Massoud Pezeshkian praised Moscow's support during the war, in the face of American sanctions, and in international forums. The Iranian president described Russian-Iranian relations as "strategic," believing they allow both countries to stand together against American "unilateralism."

Pezeshkian finally affirms Tehran's determination to resist pressure and says he is convinced of a favorable outcome for his country.
