The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa), supported by their partners, conducted several strikes against groups of armed terrorists in the Mopti region. The operations, carried out on Thursday, August 20, 2026, as part of Operation Dougoukoloko, targeted positions identified west of Youwarou and in the Dandougou sector, near Djolila.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the intelligence gathered made it possible to locate several regrouping points housing terrorist leaders as well as significant material and logistical resources.

West of Youwarou, several groups were identified and then targeted. In the Dandougou area, another group comprising at least 200 fighters, including leaders, was reportedly spotted attempting to conceal itself under dense vegetation.

After assessing the situation, the assembly area was struck. Initial observations from the army indicate significant damage to the terrorist operation and the destruction of several pieces of equipment.
Monitoring operations are continuing in the sectors concerned in order to establish a consolidated assessment of the actions taken.

Through these operations, the General Staff of the Armed Forces reaffirms the Malian Armed Forces' (FAMa) determination to continue securing the national territory with their partners. It also calls on the population to maintain their support and confidence in the forces deployed on the ground.
