In Chad, no student should be deprived of classes due to non-payment of parental contributions or the absence of a school uniform. The Minister of State for National Education, Bilingualism, and Civic Promotion, Dr. Mahamat-Ahmad Alhabo, reiterated this directive to education officials as the 2026-2027 school year gets underway.
In a circular addressed to the heads of academies, inspectors and school principals, the minister denounces situations in which classes struggle to start normally due to difficulties related to parents' financial contributions or dress requirements.
The minister believes these constraints must not delay the resumption of classes or prevent students from attending school. He asks those in charge to prioritize the presence of teachers and students, as well as the continuity of educational activities.
Regarding financial contributions, their collection must be carried out in accordance with applicable regulations, without compromising the right to education or disrupting the operation of schools. For families unable to pay the full amount requested at once, the minister recommends a payment plan.
Dr. Mahamat-Ahmad Alhabo insists on the rigorous application of these directives and calls on educational officials to take responsibility in order to guarantee the regular running of classes throughout the Chadian territory.
