Burkina Faso-Gabon: The new Gabonese ambassador wants to give new impetus to cooperation

The new Ambassador of the Gabonese Republic to Burkina Faso, Thierry Yvon Michel N'GOMA, officially took up his diplomatic duties in Ouagadougou. Received on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the presentation of copies of his Letters of Credence, the diplomat intends to be "a man of action" in order to identify new opportunities and strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

During discussions with Burkina Faso's Foreign Minister, Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, the Gabonese ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Burkinabe authorities for his accreditation. He also emphasized his desire to strengthen relations between Ouagadougou and Libreville by exploring sectors with high potential.

The diplomat also praised the pan-African vision and revolutionary spirit that, in his view, characterize the current governance in Burkina Faso under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré. He believes this approach is inspiring several countries, including Gabon.

Relations between Burkina Faso and Gabon are already based on several achievements, particularly in higher education and vocational training. Thierry Yvon Michel N'GOMA noted the presence of several Gabonese public administration officials who were trained in Burkina Faso and whose skills, he said, testify to the quality of this cooperation.

For his part, Minister Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré praised the strategic vision of Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, which was deemed commendable by the Burkinabe authorities.
For the Burkinabe foreign minister, the potential for cooperation between the two countries remains significant and diverse. The challenge now is to transform this potential into concrete actions in order to strengthen the historical ties between Burkina Faso and Gabon.

The minister thus assured the new ambassador of his team's availability to work with him to "write a new page" in relations between Ouagadougou and Libreville and make this axis a model of South-South cooperation.
It should be noted that Thierry Yvon Michel N'GOMA, who resides in Ouagadougou, is also accredited to Mali and Niger, the two other member countries of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES).
