Burkina Faso now intends to enshrine the promotion of human rights in a framework that better reflects its socio-cultural realities and its own values. The framework, entitled "Burkindlim" and titled "A Burkinabè Vision of Human Rights," was validated this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in Ouagadougou, subject to the incorporation of amendments proposed during the proceedings.
The validation took place following a workshop organized by the Ministry of Justice, through the Directorate General of Human Rights (DGDH). The meeting was chaired by the department's secretary general, Harouna Kadio, representing Minister Edasso Rodrigue Bayala.
The discussions involved human rights specialists, representatives of the public administration, ministerial departments, associations, as well as traditional and religious authorities. Their mission was to examine the document, make improvements, and reach a collective agreement.
Through the Burkindlim framework, the Burkinabe authorities aim to promote an interpretation of human rights that takes into account the values, cultural references and sociological realities of the country.
This initiative reflects the Ministry of Justice's stated commitment to strengthening Burkina Faso's cultural and intellectual sovereignty. It aims to develop a national discourse on human rights that is consistent with the country's identity and the aspirations of its people, in the spirit of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP).
