Mali: The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) strike several terrorist positions in three areas of the country

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) struck several positions held by armed terrorist groups in various areas of Mali on Monday, September 7, 2026, as part of Operation Dougoukoloko. The strikes, conducted based on precise intelligence, notably targeted a major terrorist base in the Kékoro forest, northeast of Bougouni.

According to the French Armed Forces General Staff, this base housed several terrorist groups spread across different locations, as well as military assets, including vehicles and motorcycles. After intelligence was confirmed and the situation assessed, the identified positions were targeted and successfully neutralized.

The operations also targeted the area around the village of Abéibara, in the Kidal region. Several gathering points of armed terrorist groups, where war materiel was stored, were identified and then precisely struck.
Northeast of Ménaka, four positions occupied by elements of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) have also been identified and targeted by Malian forces.

The General Staff specifies that surveillance and reconnaissance operations are continuing in the affected areas. These operations are intended to assess the effects of the strikes, establish a consolidated report, and track any remaining threats.

Through Operation Dougoukoloko, the FAMa reaffirm their commitment to maintaining pressure on armed terrorist groups and to continuing security operations throughout the national territory.
