Wheat flour continues to be produced and distributed normally in Burkina Faso. This was confirmed on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, by the Mobile Brigade for Economic Control and Fraud Repression (BMCRF), following alerts indicating a possible shortage.
To verify the situation, the BMCRF teams went to the Double Star Mill (M2S), in Gampéla, and to MINOR SA, formerly Grands Moulins du Faso, in Kossodo.
Production is continuing normally at both factories. Wheat stocks are available and trucks are loading flour for bakeries and retailers.
The two units together produce approximately 800 tonnes of flour per day.
Factory managers acknowledged, however, that there had been difficulties at the end of July. Problems with the docking of ships carrying wheat and delays in freight had slowed the arrival of the raw material.
According to them, this situation is now resolved. Wheat is arriving normally and the factories have resumed their usual production pace.
The BMCRF will continue to monitor the situation in the coming days. Checks will focus in particular on the distribution of flour to ensure it reaches bakeries and retailers.
The brigade also wants to prevent certain actors from stockpiling flour to create an artificial shortage or drive up prices.
For now, checks carried out at both factories show no disruption to production. Flour continues to leave the factories and deliveries are proceeding as normal.
