A major operation by the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) targeted armed terrorist groups in the Kidal region. At least 50 terrorists, including several leaders, were neutralized in strikes carried out on September 26 approximately 45 kilometers northeast of Abeïbara, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces.
The operation was launched following intelligence indicating the presence of terrorists and several of their leaders in various locations within the area. After confirming the information gathered, Malian forces carried out targeted strikes.
Several pieces of military equipment were also destroyed during the operation, according to the Malian army.
The FAMa are continuing surveillance and reconnaissance operations in the area in order to assess the results of the strikes and consolidate the assessment.
This operation is part of Dougoukoloko, a mechanism through which Malian forces conduct their operations against armed terrorist groups in different theaters of the country.
The official count of 50 neutralized terrorists is that released by the French Armed Forces General Staff. Further details may be provided once reconnaissance operations are complete.
