Burkina Faso and the World Bank want to give a new direction to their cooperation. Received in audience on October 2, 2026 in Ouagadougou, the Vice President of the World Bank for West and Central Africa, Ousmane Diagana, presented to the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the main points of the new strategic partnership framework between the two parties.
Approved three months ago by the World Bank's Board of Directors, this new framework aims in particular to support Burkina Faso in transforming its resilience capacity into economic and social opportunities, with a particular focus on job creation.
Following the meeting, Ousmane Diagana indicated that discussions also focused on the state of cooperation between Burkina Faso and the international financial institution. This cooperation covers several sectors and should now be integrated into the development priorities defined by the Burkinabe authorities.
The World Bank official also introduced the Head of State to the new team responsible for monitoring the institution's programs in Burkina Faso.
According to Ousmane Diagana, the President of Faso outlined the priorities he intends to see at the heart of the World Bank's action in Burkina Faso, emphasizing programs capable of producing concrete transformations.
The World Bank, for its part, states that it observes a convergence between the orientations adopted in its new partnership framework and the priorities presented by the Head of State.
