Following the elimination of the Algerian national team in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), in a statement, called on "Algerian supporters to show solidarity and continue to support the Greens, engaged in a phase of reconstruction focused on work, development and collective progress".
The Federation insists on the importance of preserving cohesion and calm, less than five months before a major event, namely the World Cup, which requires the involvement and unity of the entire Algerian football family.
The FAF also praised the commitment, seriousness and professionalism of the players and technical staff throughout the competition, believing that these efforts deserve recognition and encouragement, despite the premature end of the tournament.
However, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) maintains that it cannot ignore the refereeing decisions in the last match, which have sparked outrage and raised numerous questions. According to the FAF, these decisions undermine the credibility of African refereeing and damage the image of continental football on the international stage.
In response to this situation, the FAF announces that it has officially contacted the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), through the filing of a formal complaint accompanied by a request to open an investigation, in order to shed full light on the facts and to take appropriate measures in accordance with the regulations in force.
Furthermore, the Federation emphasizes the need to learn from this participation in order to improve future performances and better prepare for upcoming deadlines and qualifications, with the ambition of returning stronger and more competitive.
The FAF reaffirms its commitment to pursue its efforts in a constant and determined manner, mobilizing all the necessary human, technical and organizational resources, to maintain the national team among the best African selections and make it a lasting source of pride and inspiration for Algerian youth.
