How to prevent an attack involving dangerous substances and organize a rapid response in case of a threat? This is one of the issues addressed in the work undertaken on October 27 and 28, 2026 in Ouagadougou around the National Action Plan for the reduction of nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical (NRBC) risks.
Burkina Faso is seeking to better prepare its services to face these risks, which can have serious consequences for the population, infrastructure, and the environment. This approach relies in particular on coordinating the relevant institutions, improving early warning mechanisms, and strengthening national capacities.
Participants are expected to update the assessment of national capacities, clarify the responsibilities of the various structures, and identify training and equipment needs. They will also be asked to formulate recommendations to improve coordination between the relevant services and monitor progress.
The goal is to move from a national plan to a more coordinated system capable of anticipating threats and responding effectively. The work must also examine ways to submit the plan for adoption by the relevant body.
